Mini Gold Concentrator | Instructions

The fast way of getting your gold

 Manufacturers Instructions

Your Mini Gold Concentrator is a very simple but effective device for the recovery of gold, even in the hands of the inexperienced.

        PROCEED AS FOLLOWS

  1. Place bucket on a level surface and fill with water.

  2. Locate the collection tray in the bucket and secure with a tight octopus strap round the three hangers.

  3. Place sieve on the centre spindle.

  4. Half fill the sieve with wash and break up any lumps by hand.

  5. Half fill the sieve about 20mm up the spindle and work the sieve with a firm reciprocating action. This will agitate the wash and sink the fines into the collection tray.

  6. Gently turn the sieve to its original position and continue reciprocation.

  7. Completely rotate the sieve twice in a clockwise direction.

  8. Raise the sieve about 40mm up the spindle  and repeat operations 5,6 & 7.

  9. Lift sieve off the spindle and inspect its contents for nuggets, gemstones, etc. Discard the residue.
Note: A half turn of the sieve keeps the sieving even. 20 seconds is ample time to put through a half load.

  10. Add more wash and proceed as above.

  11. To recover your gold, remove the collection tray and transfer the concentrates to a gold pan.

  12. Replace the collection tray and pan off the concentrates.

  13. The bucket will need to be emptied when the waste has built up to just below the collection tray.

        EXPLANATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

  • Lifting the sieve up the spindle raises the water in the sieve above the level of water in the bucket. In returning to its original level the water strips the fines through the sieve and deposits them in the collection tray.
  • Raising the sieve in two stages controls the rate of deposit. this allows time for the stirring bars to perform their function of sinking the gold and reduces the chances of any being lost.
  • When the sieve is rotated clockwise the helical blade on the bottom performs its function of scraping unwanted material off the collection tray into the bottom of the bucket.
  • Do not be tempted to overfill the bucket.
  • Keep the bucket topped up but add water gently because a sudden slurp might displace gold in the collection tray.
  •  Clayey wash must be properly puddled.
  • A quick way of checking for nuggets is to run over the waste heap with a metal detector.
  • On a dry field you will need to take water with you. Use the lidded bucket for this purpose but take additional water because some will be lost. Stand the concentrator bucket in a dish and you will be able to recycle your water.
  • Frequency of clean up is a personal thing but do check occasionally to see how you are going.
