A few magnifier facts:

The higher the power - The smaller the lens - the smaller the focal length

• Achromatic Lens: consists of at least two lenses of crown or flint glass that are cemented
  together, they are very well corrected for chromatic aberration and produce a bright image.

• Aplanatic Lens: consists of two plano convex lenses eliminating lateral aberration. This
  provides a wider field of view and a relatively high power magnification.

• Triplet Lens: consists of three bonded lenses, highly corrected for spherical and chromatic
  aberrations, providing a very sharp and distortion free image

A few binocular facts:

Magnification and power of binoculars are expressed as for example 10 x 42, the "10" being the power of magnification of the binoculars, the "42" is the diameter of the (objective) front lens. The larger the lens the more light enters the binoculars.

Angle or field of view are expressed in degrees and indicate how much you see of whatever you are looking at.
