Crucibles and Molds for Gold Smelting
Graphite Crucibles
Graphite crucibles
are made of a graphite/carbon compound and have the
ability to handle the higher temperatures required to melt gold. The
graphite prevents the gold adhering to the insides of the crucible after
melting making it easier to pour into a mould. Typically graphite crucibles are used in smelting furnaces.

4 2kg Capacity 90x80mm $52.00
Clay Crucibles
Clay crucibles

are
made of white clay and used for smelting and alloying metals such as gold or
silver. Typically clay crucibles are used by jewellers or prospectors
wishing to melt raw gold into buttons using a torch.
1 100g Capacity 50x50mm
$9.50
2 300g Capacity 70x70mm
$10.50
3 1kg Capacity 100x100mm $17.50
Gold Molds
Gold Molds

are made of cast iron and used to make gold bars. The gold is poured
directly into the gold mold from the smelting crucible. When the metal has
cooled, the gold bar is turned out, just like a cake.
Special consideration has to be given to the molds preparation prior to use
so that the gold comes out cleanly without sticking or fusing to the mold.
Casting molten metals requires a methodical approach and due to safety
issues only experienced operators should attempt this.
Molds come in different capacities. We stock a 10 Oz mold $39.00
