Magnificent Gold Cluster 5.75X Michigan Bluff California 10mm H x 18mm W The Legendary Welcome Stranger - Australia The largest gold nugget ever, was found by Dick Deason on the 5th of February 1886. It was in the days of the great gold rushes of Victoria at Moliagul that this monster piece of gold was uncovered. Its weight was 2315 Ounces and assayed at 98.6 percent pure gold. The Welcome stranger was broken up and sold for 9534 pounds. At to-days value that would be over 2 million dollars just for the metal. As a collectors piece it would have been worth a fortune.
